Roald Dahl is a fantastic author of children's books!

If you ever get the chance to work as a casual teacher, read a bit of any of these stories at the beginning of the day and then a bit before each break and you will be an absolute hit! If you have your own class these books are absolute gold for getting your kids hooked on reading. If you are a parent, these books are fantastic to share as part of your night time bed routine and leave them hanging for more!

Children's Books

Roald Dahl - a children's author of genius !

childrens books
The Minpins - This one is my favourite. A small boy enters a forest and liberates a race of tiny people who live in the trees from their greatest enemy the 'Terrible Bloodsuckling Toothpluckling Stonechuckling Spittler'. Check out how the narrative unfolds!
childrens books

The Twits - a must for any casual teacher. The Twits are nasty, nasty people who get their come upence in the end but not before munching on worms and gluing monkeys to the branches of trees. I love reading Mrs Twit with my best Monty Python, 'Denis there is some lovely filth down here.' voice and I'm sure you'll enjoy it to.

The Enormous Crocodile - Year 2 love this one.
childrens books
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - You know some people didn't like Johnny Depp in this role but for myself I thought he portrayed a genius who locked himself away from society for too many years really, really well :)
childrens books
Matilda - the child is a genius and there is something about her 'style' and 'timing' that is impeccable as well as entertaining.

childrens books

Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes - the pistol in the knickers gets them every time. If you are going to have a 'pushy parent' that complains to the principal... this book will do it! Fantastic Entertainment!

childrens books
George's Marvelous Medicine - Yes there is an element of cruelty but this is balanced with revenge and 'comeuppance'. Many a great 'teachable moment' for discussion with any child!
childrens books

The Witches - OK, it scares the crap out of them when the witches peel off their faces in the movie, but other than that it is a fantastic allegorical tale of good verses evil where good prevails in the end.
